When it comes to summer days by the sea, it becomes clear what makes a holiday in Croatia so special: the unique location high above the Kvarner Gulf, a sweeping garden park with panoramic views of the sea and a wide range of options for food lovers and active guests alike. As part of our gourmet half board service, our guests in the Kvarner region – in Europe’s “Culinary Destination 2026” – can look forward to a varied buffet featuring high-quality ingredients and regional highlights. A rich events programme comprising concerts, dance evenings, readings and exhibitions enriches the holiday experience, as do boat trips along the coast or to the island of Krk.

Lit.EU is a small European literary festival on the Adriatic, in Crikvenica, near the historic coastal town of Opatija. At Kvarner Palace, where Archduke Josef himself once resided, writers gather to read from their works in German. It’s a place to meet and exchange ideas: to find inspiration and discover new worlds of life behind new worlds of literature. With philosophical cafés, literary walks in Opatija and Trieste or yoga for literature lovers, Lit.EU aims to be an open-minded literary festival where everyone who cares about the written word is welcome – and as are those who believe that a book is not simply a commodity, but a force; not merely an item for consumption, but an existential experience.

Croatian artist Ante Bakter (born in 1970 in Ilok) has added a touch of very special flair to our beach bar.

A vibrant mural featuring a sailing boat adorns one wall, while the bar itself has been decorated with a painting of small boats in the harbour with the island of Krk in the background – all in his unmistakable, colourful style. Baker’s paintings can be found in galleries and private collections all around the world. Anyone who would like to watch him paint is welcome to look over his shoulder.
